All rechargeable-type fire extinguishers must be recharged after any use or as indicated by inspection or when performing maintenance.
- We follow manufacturer recommendations for recharges.
- We use electronic scales to verify the weight of the agent in the extinguisher.
- We perform a leak test on all stored pressure extinguishers.
When your extinguisher(s) requires recharging, we perform this service at our shop facilities.
Anytime we remove an extinguisher from your site for recharging, we provide you with a loaner extinguisher to have in place until we return your extinguisher.
When your extinguisher(s) requires 6-year maintenance, we perform this service at our shop facilities.
When a cylinder does not pass a 6-year maintenance, it is marked “Condemned”
We do not repair any condemned cylinders. If the owner requests us to dispose of the cylinder, we drill a hole in the cylinder and make it non-useable before we dispose of it.
We do not charge for cylinder disposal!
Extinguishers that pass the applicable 6-year maintenance will have maintenance information recorded on a metallic label that is applied to the rear of the extinguisher. The metallic labels we use will self destruct if removal is attempted and the words “Void” will be visible and remain on the shell. The label has the following information:
- The 6-year indicator is punched.
- Month and year the maintenance is performed is punched.
- Company information that is performing the maintenance is imprinted on the label.
- Initials of the person performing the maintenance.
We remove all old (unapproved) labels from the extinguisher.
Anytime we remove an extinguisher from your site for 6-year maintenance, we provide you with a loaner extinguisher to have in place until we return your extinguisher.
